Pricing

Is the quote I receive a binding price?

Yes. Once you submit your move details and we confirm the scope, your written estimate is binding. The price on paper is the price on move day—no line items added at delivery.

What's included in the quoted rate?

Labor, truck, fuel, standard packing materials, and equipment (dollies, furniture pads, straps). Specialty items like pianos or safes are listed separately on the estimate—never buried.

Are there fees not shown in the estimate?

No. Elevator fees, long-carry charges, and stair access are assessed during quoting and listed explicitly. If a condition changes on move day that wasn't disclosed, we document it before adjusting anything.

Scheduling

How far in advance do I need to book?

We book moves as close as 48 hours out, subject to crew availability. Peak weekend slots fill 2–3 weeks ahead. Submit your dates through the quote form and we'll confirm availability same day.

What is the guaranteed arrival window?

Your confirmed booking includes a 30-minute arrival window. If we exceed it, we notify you before the window closes—not after. Crew contact information is sent the evening before your move.

Can I reschedule or cancel after booking?

Reschedules are free up to 72 hours before your move date. Cancellations inside 48 hours carry a deposit hold equal to one hour of labor—documented in your confirmation email.

What happens if something is damaged during the move?

We carry full cargo liability coverage. Damage is documented on-site, submitted to our claims desk within 24 hours, and resolved within 10 business days. No claim forms mailed to an unknown address.

Is my move covered by your insurance?

Yes. We are licensed and insured per FMCSA requirements. Our certificate of insurance is available on request before you book—not after you ask on move day.

For long-distance moves, who is actually handling my shipment?

Direct Moving & Storage handles your shipment directly—we do not broker loads to third-party carriers. Your crew, truck, and DOT number are confirmed in your booking documentation.

Storage

Can I access my stored items at any time?

Access is available Monday through Saturday, 7am–7pm. After-hours access is available with 24-hour advance notice. Your unit is individually locked; only you hold the key.

How is storage priced and billed?

Storage is billed monthly with no minimum commitment. Your first month's rate is locked in your quote. We don't increase rates mid-stay without 30 days' written notice.

Can items move directly from my home into storage?

Yes. We coordinate direct load-to-storage moves in a single operation—no second appointment, no rehandling. Your inventory list transfers from the moving job to the storage record automatically.
